Here at CUDGS we’re very enthusiastic about eSports, with many of our members playing games competitively in various tournaments. Take a look at individual games using the menu above, or read about a selection of the competitions we’ve entered below.
This annual competition is held alternately at Oxford or Cambridge, and the 2016 competition will be held in Oxford. This is the highlight of the CUDGS calendar and it’s a. In 2014 and 2015, Cambridge’s finest clinched the trophy and we will be looking to do the same this coming year.
Representing the university in a varsity match for gaming is a fantastic achievement to be proud of and gives a lot of CUDGS members something to work hard towards to get onto the team. Across Michaelmas term online qualifiers will take place to decide the players representing Cambridge University in the League of Legends, StarCraft II , Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 teams, so get practicing!
National University ESports League
The NUEL is a very popular league among the gamers of CUDGS, with the society running teams throughout multiple seasons. Our most successful team so far has been the Cambridge Dongers, who emerged as the champions of the NUEL Summer Tournament in League of Legends.
More information on the NUEL may be found here, where you can also register yourself as a gamer at the University of Cambridge.
StarClash <Still happening?>
StarClash is our series of regular LAN tournaments that we run for all members of the society who are interested. The inaugural StarClash took place on 15th June 2014, with gamers competing in Dota 2, League of Legends and StarCraft II in front of a live audience. For many members this is their first taste of competitive gaming in front of a crowd, and with this in mind we will be hosting bigger and better tournaments in the 2015/2016 academic year.
In the past we have entered other tournaments such as
UKGL University League Season 1
European Collegiate Starleague Season 1
